Studying PPLE at the University of Amsterdam
Are you interested in socio-economic topics and intrigued by complex problems? Do you like to be challenged, and do you feel at home in an international environment? If you are considering enrolling for a Bachelor’s in Political Science, Psychology, Law or Economics, then the PPLE programme may be your path to academic achievement.
To fully comprehend the questions raised in these fast-paced times, a 21st century answer can be found in the combination of four classic socio-economic disciplines: Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics (PPLE). The rapid social and economic changes and growing complexity of today’s society require academics and professionals who can integrate different fields of knowledge into new solutions. The Bachelor of Science (BSc) in PPLE at the UvA provides you the necessary tools to address these challenges.
Entry Requirements
The UvA is looking for ambitious and intellectually talented students who will finish their BSc degree with good results within three years. You should be motivated and willing to participate in small-scale, intensive and interactive lectures, working groups and extracurricular activities, and have the desire to further develop your analytical and critical thinking skills. You are someone who wants to contribute to the debate on important scientific and social questions.
Applicants must obtain Maths A'Level to be eligible for this course.
Pre-interview Essay PPLE
The pre-interview essay is a written essay on a subject that is related to the PPLE programme, but which does not require any specialised knowledge. The essay is used for assessing your English writing skills and analytical skills. Writing the essay is a required part of the admissions procedure. The essay will be evaluated by a lecturer on the PPLE programme. The admissions committee will decide whether you will be invited for an interview on the basis of your score in this pre-interview essay, the grades you have achieved in secondary education, and your motivation letter.
