Renewable Energy (European Master)
SubjectEnvironment, Science
Programme introduction
Within the rapidly expanding European renewable energy industry, an urgent demand exists for more post-graduate trained staff specialised in renewable energy technology. The aim of the European Master in Renewable Energy is to train post-graduate students to fill the gap between the growing industry demand for specialised renewable energy expertise and the skills currently available on the job market. You acquire a solid foundation in key renewable energy technologies and related socioeconomic issues at Hanze UAS and specialise in a specific technology at a partner institute or at Hanze UAS. Specialisations are available in wind energy, photovoltaics, sustainable fuel systems for mobility, solar thermal energy, grid integration and ocean energy. This programme is for students with a technical background.
Course structure
The programme is divided into three semesters. During the core semester, you acquire a solid foundation in the technical and engineering aspects related to innovative energy system design and implementation and their various related interdisciplinary aspects. Theoretical courses which also examine the socioeconomic issues surrounding the deployment of these technologies are supported by laboratory workshops. The studies for the core can be done in French, English or Spanish.
In the second semester you specialise in a chosen technology at a different university. The third and last semester you will apply your knowledge and skills in a research project at a company or a research centre. Based on this research you will write your thesis under the supervision of a (core) professor, a professor of the specialisation and a professor from the project provider.
How to apply
This programme is open to anyone with a Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject.
